I support Rhode Island Medical Imaging’s Certificate of Need application to establish a new outpatient PET/CT scanner at 407 East Avenue in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. I support this application because:
- The need for PET/CT in Rhode Island is increasing due to rising incidence of cancer and neurologic diseases in an aging population.
- Current PET/CT capacity in Rhode Island is insufficient, with only two scanners serving the entire state.
- PET/CT is the current standard of care for many cancer types and neurologic diseases.
- Limited capacity leads to prolonged wait times and delays in diagnosis, staging, and treatment decisions.
- Rhode Islanders frequently cannot obtain PET/CT in a timely manner and are often referred out of state for necessary imaging.
- Expanding outpatient PET/CT capacity in Pawtucket would improve access for Rhode Islanders and allow more patients to receive care within the state.
- Outpatient PET/CT provides a more affordable option for patients compared to hospital-based imaging.
By signing below, I affirm my support for approval of this application.
