Dr. Alvin completed his internship, diagnostic radiology residency, and neuroradiology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. During his training, he presented and published prolifically in high impact journals, such as JAMA, Radiology, and Lancet, and was nationally selected for both the William Olmsted Editorial Fellowship and AJNR Editorial Fellowship, as well as for the Radiology Leadership Institute annual summit.
Dr. Alvin graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS, double majoring in chemistry and biology. Subsequently, he attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine where he earned his MD in conjunction with two Masters degrees: an MA (Bioethics) and MS (Applied Anatomy). He graduated with AOA/Honors and was selected as an American Medical Association Physician of Tomorrow. Additionally, while in medical school, Dr. Alvin earned an MBA from the University of Florida, graduating top of his class with concentrations in management and competitive strategy.
Dr. Alvin has served on the radiology residency admissions committee at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and as a Medical School Admissions Consultant for Kaplan Medical. He is an active reviewer for multiple journals and has previously served as an invited expert for the New England Journal of Medicine.
Dr. Alvin lives in Needham, MA with his wife, two children, and golden retriever, Maximus. His wife is a current pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital.
