SUMMARY:
This position is directly responsible for the evaluation, care, treatment and services consistent with image guided Interventional Radiology (IR) practice. Utilizes professional training in order to perform a number of medical procedures. All work is performed under the supervision of a physician but requires judgement and interpretations to complete.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ordering and preliminary interpretation of diagnostic studies including laboratory, diagnostic imaging and electrocardiographic examinations.
Completing H & P consent forms.
Completing pre and post procedure orders.
Dictating of patient records.
Assist in pre, intra and post-procedure management of patients.
Issuing prescriptions, where applicable.
Minor wound care and management.
Request for rehabilitative services, respiratory therapy, radiologic and medical/surgical consultations.
Maintains professional learning, specifically the annual requirement of 25 continuing medical education hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current unrestricted licensure to practice as a physician in the State of Rhode Island. Current certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Maintain active ACLS/BLS certification. Professional liability insurance coverage of a type and in the amount as required by the Board of Trustees. Current unrestricted DEA and RI Controlled substance registration (if applicable).
