MRI/CT Coordinator

SUMMARY:

This position is in Warwick, RI Monday- Friday 9:00 AM- 5:30 PM

Under the general supervision of the Lead MR/CT Coordinator and according to established policies and procedures, responsible for receiving/making calls, prescreening and confirming patient MR and CT appointments. Ensures that all collected data is entered into RIS accurately and completely.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Confirms and screens MR and CT patients for all sites from current day to at least two days out. Inform patients of RIMI’s Medication Policy when necessary.

Investigates any allergies, implants, recent colonoscopy and endoscopy exams. Call outside facilities to retrieve information. Scan in necessary paperwork and alert MR technologists so they can review MR Safety conditions.

Checks current day’s schedule periodically for add-on patients.

Calls for prior outside reports. Scan/attach to appropriate account in RIS.

Calls for referral slips for patients needing x-rays for foreign body prior to MRI and schedule. Call for exam referral slip if needed when reviewing the case.

Checks referral slips and informs lead of incorrectly scheduled exams.

Assists with training new staff.

Additional duties and projects as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress, referring physicians, staff and co-workers. Ability to multi-task and complete all job duties in a timely manner for efficient patient care. Attention to detail and proactive with patients while on phone.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written needed.

Demonstrates ability to enter and update information into RIS as well as clerical methods and techniques.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Organizational and analytical skills to compile and interpret data.

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION, PREPARATION AND TRAINING:

High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a School of Medical Secretarial Sciences preferred.

One-year experience as a medical secretary, preferably in a radiology setting. Three (3) months on-the-job training.
