Interface Analyst

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Applications Systems, the Interface Analyst is responsible for developing and testing application interfaces across the enterprise. This employee will participate in requirements gathering and application design, as well as implementation, monitoring customer feedback, and updating code to improve functionality and the flow of data between systems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with IT Team and users on all aspects of the interface architecture process including requirements gathering, design, development and testing of interfaces.

Participates in interface projects by providing analytical and technical guidance to team members and project managers.

Captures user requirements through collaboration with vendors, department managers, end users and business analysts; defines and documents user and data workflows.

Designs logic flows, builds data transformations and develops interface scripts utilizing a variety of tools, programming languages and applications.

Evaluates new and existing technologies and makes recommendations for system improvements and/or efficiencies.

Performs system upgrades as needed

Leads project for integration tool upgrades and interoperability implementations.

Works with client engineers or other application partners and vendors to ensure receipt of all relevant data elements or to troubleshoot interface related issues.

Helps to develop communication strategies internal and external to department on interface status and health; creates and maintains dashboards to give appropriate users ability to view interface activity and can monitor interface health.

Creates all necessary documentation including interface logic, configuration, and system changes. Creates end user documentation as needed.

Administers testing to validate the completeness of new interfaces.

Exhibits excellent troubleshooting skills, resolves issues as they arise while implementing strategies to handle reoccurrences.

Implements and monitors quality control measures and system alerts to ensure all data transactions reach the appropriate end points.

Serves as primary interoperability expert on projects, teams, and committees.

Maintains knowledge of developments in the area of interoperability by participating in conferences and seminars; further enhances skills through self-study.

Assists with overall IT support inquiries and participates in scheduled IT on-call rotation.

Adheres to department and project standards, company’s code of conduct and acts in accordance with company’s mission, vision and values.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of the healthcare environment preferred.

Experience in outpatient imaging setting and hospital applications a plus.

Knowledge of HL7 standards, XML, CCDA, FHIR, JSON, Web services (SOAP) interfaces and IHE.

Knowledge of basic networking skills including TCP/IP, SFTP, FTP, SSH.

Should possess a strong understanding of programming languages and framework. Javascript and Cache a plus.

Basic understanding and familiarity with government regulations (e.g. HIPAA, Clinical Decision Support) preferred

Strong analytic skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

A team player and collaborative attitude.

EDUCATION:

BS, BA in computer science, or work experience equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years of experience as an HL7 interface analyst or equivalent position. Experience in using multiple interface connectivity methods i.e. TCP/IP, ftp protocols.

Experience with HL7 message types; ORM, ADT, ORU preferred.

Experience with InterSystems IRIS for Health, Iguana, and Mirth Connect Interface Engines preferred.

Experience with Ancillary systems such as PACS, Voice Recognition Software, and an understanding of their relationship to both the interface and the function of the healthcare practice

Knowledge of Healthcare systems such as Epic, Meditech, Quest Diagnostics, Athena, eCW, AllScripts, Cerner a plus
