Applications Analyst

SUMMARY:

This position is in Warwick, RI.

Under the general supervision of a Senior Applications Analyst, works independently to provide technical support to all end users of computerized technology within the company. Participates in the development, implementation, training, troubleshooting and maintenance of computer-based information systems in consultation with other I.T. members. Provides input regarding vendor-proposed hardware and software additions and changes.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with all aspects of I.T. systems ex. RIS, PACS, Group Management, voice recognition, EDI systems, interface software and other related systems that support the business operational needs.

Works with other I.T. personnel for implementing and/or upgrading systems.

Assumes routine day to day tasks for supporting and maintaining financial and clinical systems.

Takes corrective actions independently or in consultation with other IT personnel to provide end user support.

May assist with monitoring or troubleshooting existing interface issues as needed. Participates in the development and testing of new interfaces and/or changes to existing interfaces.

Participates in Compliance and Quality Assurance related activities as needed.

Provides input into the evaluation of new technical proposals to determine their appropriateness and compatibility to RIMI’s existing operational infrastructure when needed.

Assists staff as well as outside users when applicable with application issues, troubleshooting and resolution.

Analyzes and documents problems with vendor-supplied software and generates documentation for submission to vendor; contacts outside resources for input into resolving software problems and applies corrective action.

Provides input into the evaluation of new technical proposals to determine their appropriateness and compatibility to RIMI’s clinical operations when needed.

Implementing and monitoring EDI systems, including data mapping, translation and interface.

Provides individual and group instruction as needed on new application features.

Performs related duties as assigned that support the department’s overall mission.

Will be exposed to company software systems in order to assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution and to participate in on-call rotation.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of the healthcare environment required.

Working knowledge of large relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, MS Access) and database report writing using modern database reporting tools preferred.

Basic understanding and familiarity with HL7 interface standards a plus.

Basic understanding and familiarity with government regulations (e.g. HIPAA, Clinical Decision Support) preferred

EDUCATION:

BS, BA in computer science, or medically related field

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 3 years progressive experience in a health care environment supporting IT systems, relational databases, and report writing.

Skills needed to effectively express ideas, preparing and presenting oral and written reports.

Rhode Island Medical Imaging (RIMI) has a network of 12 private state-of-the-art medical diagnostic imaging facilities that are staffed by over 70 board certified radiologists with broad-based experience and subspecialty training in Bone Densitometry (DEXA), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) including the most extensive 3T MRI imaging network in Rhode Island, Mammography, Ultrasound, and X-ray.
