SUMMARY:
This position is primarily in Providence, RI. Monday- Friday 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM.
Under the general supervision of Lead Mammography Coordinator along with the site manager and according to established policies and procedures is responsible for assisting in the work of the mammography department Schedules and confirms appointments, gives directions, inputs data into patient accounts, discusses insurance and payment policies with the patient prior to the patient’s actual arrival Interacts with the radiologist, referring physicians, staff and patients as required
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Continually sets the example of professionalism, flexibility and high levels of patient care.
Answer phones and return calls in a prompt and courteous manner. Schedule appointments for diagnostic/screening mammograms, ultrasound and breast MRIs. Book all six-month follow-up appointments while patient is present
Schedule all Breast MRI patients.
Schedule all Breast Biopsies for RIMI, follow-up with all necessary paperwork. Help facilitate the scheduling of biopsies at the hospital, communicate with patient all required preparation instructions.
Contact referring physician’s office to request slip, add/change an exam.
Additional duties and projects as assigned.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE
Physical dexterity and strength to handle patient films and files.
Demonstrates all the skills required of a Mammography Coordinator Assistant.
Possesses the interpersonal skills and abilities to manage, organize and motivate staff in a manner which insures meeting of corporate goals and objectives.
EDUCATION:
High School degree or equivalent. Graduate of a Medical Secretarial Science School a plus. Knowledge of medical office procedures.
EXPERIENCE:
A medical secretary with a minimum of two (2) years of experience
